The following information is provided to assist prospective racers with planning for participation in the 2022 race.
Registered racers from the 2020 event will be automatically registered for the 2022 event unless notified. Previously registered racers and new registrants will be added to an email distribution list and will receive regular updates regarding the event in the weeks leading up to the race. Registered racers will also be provided access to the private racer webpage that includes all the logistical details and answers to racer Frequently Asked Questions. A few days before the race, racers will find out which qualifying heat they will be competing in during the event. The best racers from the 2 qualifying heats will go on the compete in the Championship Race. See below for more details on what to expect for the weekend.

Racers are invited to an optional social evening event Friday evening to meet and mingle with other racers. Weather permitting, racers may also choose to join in a short group penny farthing (high wheel) ride. Registered racers will receive more details regarding the social event in July.

PRE-RACE MEETING: The day will start out with a mandatory pre-race meeting for all racers. During this meeting, racers will receive their race packet/numbers and all the information they need to participate in the event. There will be an opportunity for racers to ask any questions .
PRE-RACE LAPS: About an hour before the event begins, the race course will be closed to traffic and racers will have the opportunity to ride/preview the the race course.
QUALIFYING HEATS: The field of racers will be split into two qualifying heats, which will be 15 minutes each. The best 20 racers from the qualifying heats will go on to compete in the final championship race. More info about the race can be found here.
INTERMISSION: Between the qualifying heats and the championship race, there will be an intermission event that provides the racers with a rest period before the championship race. Those racers who qualify for the final race will be notified during this time period.
CHAMPIONSHIP RACE: The final race will be a 30-minute criterium race. Immediately following the race, there will be an awards ceremony to recognize all racers and the winner of the 2020 National Clustered Spires High Wheel Race.
POST RACE DINNER: Our title sponsor Brewer's Alley Restaurant will provide dinner to registered racers immediately following the event.
